The last Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
was one heck of a muscle truck, but it was somewhat encumbered by being based
on the last Grand Cherokee. The new model, however, is a different beast
entirely, billed as the kind of vehicle that could help turn Chrysler's
fortunes around. So what's next? The new Grand Cherokee SRT8, of course. And
rumormill reports of its specifications are beginning to pour in.
The driving force of the new Jeep
Grand Cherokee SRT8 is 6.4-liter V-type eight-cylinder engine Hemi. Although
significantly better its dynamic characteristics, it is more economical than
its predecessor by 13%. This is due to the new system of fuel economy, which in
low load off of the cylinders.
Because of the increased output
of Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 have changed and brake mechanisms. Six pistons are
new front and rear four-and are the work of the notorious company Brembo. The
options in the cabin are interesting multimedia system Harmann-Kardon, which
has an output of 825 watts and Satellite Radio SIRIUS.
Power is from an all-new,
all-aluminum 3.6-liter dohc 60-degree V-6 with variable valve timing, 290 bhp
at 6400 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque peaking at 4800 rpm. A smooth revver in
the modern vein, the V-6 gives good if not overwhelming power at the Cherokee’s
approximate 4600-lb. curb weight. The V-6 is rated to tow 5000 lb.
Sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee
SRT8 starts in the autumn, as the U.S. price will be $ 45,000.
